ABOUT

Selina Thüring is a Berlin and Basel-based music theater director. She directs interdisciplinary music theater at Tischlerei Deutsche Oper, Neuköllner Oper, Theater im Delphi, ITZ Tübingen and for the Basel Chamber Orchestra, among others.

She works at the boundaries of performance, dance, film, opera and physical theater, as well as on digital-analog formats. Her expertise lies in developing pieces with a transformative character: the performers become multimedia voices that speak strongly with their own bodies.

Their artistic signature is reminiscent of being human and the transgenerational knowledge that resides in every object, in every place, in every body. Her music theater work is about revolutionizing opera by deconstructing the opera system as such and the power of the sensory genre of opera flows back into the artists and the audience.
